Invesco: Living in the community

Drawing on the enthusiasm and energy of a cross-section of its employees, Invesco contributes to the Canadian communities in which it does business every day. Through the Employee Charity Committee, employees have the opportunity to innovate, develop awareness of the needs of others and benefit from the experience of teamwork. The committee participates frequently in activities to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada as well as charities such as Easter Seals, Dress for Success and Invesco's own Christmas Family Assistance Program. The committee's goals, summarized and documented as Invesco principles, were developed by employees when invited to define the foundation of their Invesco experience:

Coming from a diverse range of roles at Invesco, Charity Committee members have a shared focus on benefiting the wider community through volunteer work. They gain a sense of personal fulfillment while helping a broad spectrum of organizations.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada

Big Brothers Big Sisters of CanadaInvesco has been a supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC) since 2002, and in 2004 became the National Partner of Bowl for Kids' Sake, BBBSC's signature annual fundraising event.

Bowl for Kids SakeInvesco has helped establish brand identity for Bowl for Kids' Sake by developing branded promotional materials for the event and giving support to its national member agencies. Invesco's support allowed Bowl for Kids' Sake to develop an online pledging system to increase event-awareness and overall funds raised.

BBBSC also benefits from funds raised at other Invesco events:

  • Building Better Portfolios Live Fall Sessions, an educational road show visiting 24 cities across Canada that invites advisors to make donations to BBBSC, with proceeds going to over 20 regions in Canada
  • Corporate Play Day, an annual employee barbeque and themed carnival
  • Charity Jeans Days, when employees can wear jeans to work in exchange for a charitable donation

Dress for Success: Giving "experienced" work clothing to job seekers

Dress for SuccessDress for Success volunteers collect professional clothing and accessories and give them to people looking for a job. Invesco employees from all departments annually pool their gently-worn work clothes for this popular annual campaign.

Christmas Family Assistance Program: Giving comfort when it's needed most

Yonge Street MissionEvery year at Christmas, Invesco employees provide the Yonge Street Mission with boxes of gifts and essentials for approximately 20 families. In addition, throughout the year employees donate food and office supplies to the Mission, and raise funds through bake sales, raffles and other initiatives. It is our way of giving back to the members of those communities that support us and our business.

Team participation: How pulling together builds community

Invesco teams participate in annual charity events such as the Heart and Stroke Big Bike, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure and the Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay. Participation in charitable team activities helps to build and maintain employee spirit and corporate well-being.

Funds raised at the Easter Seals event help youth with disabilities by subsidizing essential mobility equipment, communication devices, fully accessible summer camps and specialized recreational programs.

Charity Jeans Days: Going casual for charity

On the last Friday of every month, Invesco employees donate $2 each to charity for the privilege of wearing jeans to the office. Organizations that benefit from our Charity Jeans Days include Habitat for Humanity, United Way, UNICEF and Second Harvest.
